Lectures: art + design =🖤
concept
The goal is to narrow the gap between art and society and gradually challenge the belief that art is unnecessarily expensive. We wanted to demonstrate how art transforms an interior, and how the surrounding environment shapes the perception of both the artwork and the space as a whole.
challenge
People are inspired by art but often lack practical knowledge of how to work with it in real interiors, which makes it difficult to use artworks confidently beyond decoration. The challenge was to give participants a clear, hands-on skill in just one session — explained in an engaging, simple, and colorful way.
solution
We developed an interactive educational series where participants explore iconic interiors through real historical photographs. Practicing designer Olivia Paakkunainen guides them through spatial principles and teaches how to select and place art confidently — using AI tools to visualize and experiment.
practical lecture that turns inspiration into clear understanding of how art truly works in space
These lectures are designed to combine theory, analysis, and practical guidance, and are structured in three parts. First, participants are introduced to iconic interior examples as reference points. Then, the lecturer explains the key principles of selecting and placing art — scale, context, and function. Finally, participants work together on real-life spatial scenarios: they select actual artworks from the gallery and consider how to place them within specific interiors, applying the principles they have learned.
The lecture concludes with networking, drinks, and a friendly atmosphere, where participants can connect more personally with a practicing designer and ask any professional questions in an open and relaxed setting.

impact
The format fosters observation, discussion, and hands-on learning, giving participants tools they can apply in their own interiors. The first lecture at The Blue Verve gallery confirmed strong audience interest. We plan to expand the series with new topics, more artists, and lectures in diverse local venues.
